Carl Leo Cooper was born on February 21,1958 to the late John Henry and Alma Elizabeth Cooper in Boston, Massachusetts. Carl was the fifth (middle child) of their nine children.

Carl was born a part of a well-structured family where it was expected for everyone to excuse themselves from the dinner table or to offer a seat to an adult. In the Cooper household, knowing God came first. Carl along with his eight siblings were all christened, baptized and confirmed at St. John's Episcopal Church in Roxbury.

As a child, Carl was member of the local Boy's Club and "Friends Camp" (overnight) in South China Maine. Carls daily focus was ice skating during winters and swimming in the summers at the MDC in Roxbury.  Other life highlights were riding bikes with his friends and brothers, listening and recording music on his "eight-track" and "cassette players". Carl had many close friends, male and female, to which he was a humble friend, and everyone knew them.

Carl attended Boston Public Schools and was recognized for his high academic abilities resulting in his being accepted, attending and graduating from Boston Technical High School, in the Class of 1975.

Carl took the oath and enlisted into the United States Army, following in his father's footsteps.  While there, he met and married the late Sharon Walton Cooper. Together they would raise his (stepson) Donald Tell Walton. While in the Army, Carl worked as a Specialist of Material Control and Supplies.

Upon completing his four years of service, Carl decided to re-enlist for an additional two years resulting in a Honorable Discharge.

When Carl returned to Boston he chose to return to his position as a professional presser at a family business.  Jones Cleaners was an environment he enjoyed, and he could re-acquaint himself with the community he once served.

Seeking a change of pace, Carl moved on to a new career opportunity at Lena Park Community Development Corporation as a Facilities Engineer. There he became a workforce favorite to both families and staff for many years until the corporation would unfortunately close.

Carl moved forward in his facilities career and was employed at "NewBridge on the Charles" located in Dedham Mass until his retirement.

As a retiree, Carl enjoyed family time and enjoyed well-seasoned hot meals! He was a sharp pool and card player. He enjoyed playing "Bid Whist" with his in laws, close friends and anyone up for the challenge. He joined groups off site while living in the Veteran's facility. Carl was a member of the VOC Program from the Spring of 2023 through the Spring of 2025 where he was enrolled in the Boots to Technology class. He also participated in a candle making workshop. Needless to say, Carl kept busy.

Carl was a committed friend to many and affectionately loved Maria Reyes-Rodriguez and family who made sure he was always well cared for.

Carl's death was preceded by both his parent's John and Elizabeth Cooper., Wife Sharon Cooper and Sister-in-Law Quencella Morgan Cooper.

Carl leaves to mourn eight siblings: Jack and Willia Cooper of Middleboro, MA, Ralph Cooper of Chelsea, MA, Randy and Cherry Cooper of Boston. MA, Gwendolyn Johnson of Boston, MA., Edmund (Buster) Cooper of Boston, MA. Charles and Carol Cooper of Dartmouth, MA., Kenneth and Jonnette Hayes of Richmond, VA., Patricia and Vatchel Younger of Boston, MA.,8 nephews; Jonathan Cooper, Lamont Cooper, Charles Cooper II, Christopher Cooper, Corey Cooper, David Johnson Jr., Kenneth Hayes, Vatchel Younger II. 3 nieces, Melinda Johnson, Zakia Cooper Boston and Briha Younger, Jennifer Cooper (wife of Jonathan Cooper,) Tianda Johnson (wife of David Johnson Jr,) Julie Cooper (wife of Christopher Cooper, Terrance Boston (husband of Zakia Boston) and a host of great-nieces, nephews and cousins.
