Broovelt Leon Lacet was born on February 20, 1973, in Boston, Massachusetts. Affectionately known as "Broo" by his family and friends, he will always be remembered for his boundless generosity and his unwavering commitment to helping others. He was a graduate of Boston Public Schools. He was also an alum of the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Broo was raised in the neighborhoods of Mattapan and Dorchester, surrounded by a loving and vibrant family of twelve siblings—six brothers and six sisters—each of whom shared in the special bond that made their family strong and resilient.

In February 2023, Broo married, Chevonne, and together they shared a beautiful union rooted in respect, laughter, and affection. A devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, Broo wore each of these titles with pride. His children, Isaiah and Amir, were the center of his world. It was rare to see Broo without one of them by his side—whether on the football field, relaxing at the park, or sitting on the iconic 915 block of Morton Street. Broo's legacy is forever etched in the lives of those boys, whose lives he shaped with love, dedication, and pride.

Broo had a magnetic personality—full of wit, wisdom, and laughter. He was a natural storyteller and an avid history buff, often sharing his knowledge in humorous, thoughtful, and sometimes surprising ways. His wordplay was legendary, his humor infectious, and his presence unforgettable. Broo didn't just brighten the room—he lifted it. He faced life head-on, giving his best in every moment and spreading joy and compassion to everyone he encountered.

A proud Haitian-American, Broo celebrated his heritage boldly and unapologetically. Whether it was through his iconic baseball caps, often paired with a Haitian flag bandana, or his stories and values, he honored his culture and inspired others to do the same.

Broo was also a serious businessman and community builder. As Vice President of the Thom S. Carlson Corporation and Operations Manager in the construction industry, he not only helped countless individuals find meaningful careers, but he also served as a mentor to youth and adults alike. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by his heart for service.

A passionate athlete, Broo played football in college and later coached youth football, leaving a lasting impression on the lives of his sons, nephews, and countless young players. He proudly coached for the Mattapan Patriots Pop Warner team and later with the Dorchester Elite Eagles, where he helped lead the team to a Super Bowl Championship. On and off the field, Coach Broo was admired and respected—his presence, leadership, and mentorship are irreplaceable. His passing leaves a void that can never truly be filled.

Broovelt was preceded in death by his father Felix Paul Elméus Lacet, his brother Besher Elméus Lacet, his nephews Besher Jamal Johnson and Malik Joseph-Lacet, and several cherished grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

He leaves behind his mother, Lofane Leon; Leonide V. Lacet; his wife, Chevonne Little-Lacet; and his beloved sons, Isaiah Emmanuael Lacet and Amir Jacob Little-Lacet.

He is also survived by his brothers: Kenter (Deannine) Lacet, Jovan (Chandra) Joseph Lacet, Jean-Loove (Darlene) Lacet, Lorm Ogray (Steffinie) Leon, and Paul Jr. (Fredericka) Lacet. His sisters: Blishda (Kelly) Lacet-Brown, Yonette (Elange) Elméus Lacet-Fils, Nalida (Michaël Sr.) Elméus Lacet Besson, Carline Leon, Genteen (Valiens) Lacet Jean-Michel, and Castagna (Christian Sr.) Lacet Cadet

He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and in-laws—each of whom he loved deeply—as well as lifelong friends who became family. We would also like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to his extended family at Thom S. Carlson Corporation at Northeastern University, who were a significant part of his life.
