Beverly Ann (Taylor) Harris was born on Sunday, June 25, 1950 in Boston, Massachusetts to the late Viola E. (Moody) Taylor of Carson, Virginia and Arthur Ray Taylor, Sr. of Cartersville, Virginia. She peacefully departed this life on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

Beverly, the only girl and second oldest of four children, grew up in Roxbury, Massachusetts with her three brothers, Arthur Ray Taylor, Jr., Sterling Bernard Taylor, and Ronald (Ronnie) Lee Taylor. Her family home on Tupelo Street was a hub for neighborhood children that is fondly remembered for the many cherished memories everyone shared there during their youth. As a young girl,  Beverly worshiped at St. Mark Congregational Church in Roxbury with her extended family. She enjoyed playing volleyball and basketball in the community sports leagues at the Roxbury YMCA.

She attended the historic W.L.P. Boardman Elementary School and the Patrick T. Campbell Middle School in Roxbury before attending the all-girls Jeremiah E. Burke High School. She earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education in 1972 from the all-girls Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She continued her education at Boston State College.

Beverly launched her career as an educator in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. She began her tenure as an elementary school teacher in the Boston Public Schools System during the height of the hostile Boston Desegregation Busing Crisis. She spent the majority of her career teaching third grade at the Dante Alighieri School in East Boston. In 2010, after 37 years of service, she retired to fully dedicate her time to her family and civic interests.

She was united in holy matrimony with Leslie Earl Harris of Chicago, Illinois on Saturday, August 21, 1976. Together, they shared 49 years of devoted marriage and built a loving home in Roxbury, where they raised three children: Marjorie, Jason, and Brian. She often shared her home and was a nurturing mother figure for several generations of nieces, nephews and extended family members during their adolescent years.

Beverly was a proud lifelong resident of Roxbury, who valued family and community.  Beverly, alongside her mother Viola, was a founding member of the Mount Zion Chapter No. 21 of the Order of the Eastern Star, an affiliate of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Massachusetts. She was also an active member of the Eliot Congregational Church for over 50 years. She served on the Usher Board and the founding Board for the Eliot Educational Center. Beverly enjoyed spending time with family and friends, diverse genres of music, watching Sci-Fi movies and Western television shows, and weekly shopping trips to the historic Filene's Basement.

Beverly is survived by her children: Marjorie Ann Perez (John), Jason Leslie Harris, Sr. (Channa), Brian Anthony Harris (Danielle); her grandchildren: Jonathan, Justin, Jason, Jr., Jaylen, Syanna, Ta'veren, Anthony, Jayce, and Bryson; and her great-grandchildren: Milo, Vance, and Chance.

She leaves to mourn her memory, brothers Arthur Ray Taylor, Jr. (Jacqueline) and Sterling Bernard Taylor; nieces and nephews Alisa R. Drayton, Arthur R. Collins, Nicole Fearon, Treneva Jennings, and Jessica Marshall; in-laws, extended family, and friends.

Beverly is predeceased by her beloved husband Leslie, parents Arthur, Sr. and Viola, and younger brother Ronnie.

Beverly will be remembered for her loving warmth, intellect, humor, wit, joyful spirit, infectious smile and laugh, generosity, charm, devotion, and kindness. Those who knew her best know she will be "forever sixteen".
