Azell Davis was born in Whitakers, NC to the late Walter and Julia Davis. He was the youngest male child of nine siblings.

His family moved to Brooklyn, NY when he was a young child. He attended and graduated from high school in Brooklyn, NY.

A few years later he would meet the love of his life Agnes Brabham, and they joined hands in marriage on December 11, 1953. His nicknames for Agnes were "ladybug" and "Aggie Baby." They were blissfully married for 70 years.

They moved to Boston, MA shortly after getting married to fulfill his wife's dream of living in Boston. Azell was a skillfully employed as a metal finisher for over 35 years at Modern Electric in Roxbury, MA until his retirement.

Once in Boston, together they found what would become lifetime friendships in Lois Summeral, Betty Garner, Theodore and Christine Mills that become family to Azell and Agnes.

They joined Grant AME Church, where he proudly served on the steward board and trustee board.

In 1979, Azell became the proud father of his only child Delores Davis, the apple of his eye who he called "baby girl" til this day.

Azell was a quiet man, but when he spoke you knew he meant business. He will always be remembered for giving big hugs and kisses to all the ladies. He gave everyone a nickname to the point if he said your real name, you thought you were in trouble.

He loved fishing, traveling, hosting dinners and game nights, but he especially loved spending time with family and Friends as much as possible.

In 1997, he became the proud grandfather to Charles P. Taylor Jr., who he spent every moment he could with.  Charles was "grandpa's baby boy" and "Charlie Paul." Azell was not just a grandfather but also a father to Charles, teaching and training him to always strive to be the best he could be. He also helped him when Charles was ready to reconnect himself with the Lord.

Since retirement was not for Azell, he stayed active in his community. He would volunteer with Central Elder Affairs for over twenty years. He also member at large on the Lena Park Association, ambassador of the National Law Enforcement for officers. Azell also worked closely with Former Mayors Ray Flynn, and Thomas Menino.  His giving and philanthropy extended to The Urban League of Massachusetts, The United Negro College Fund, Susan B. Koman, Father Flanagan's Boys Home, and elder services.

Azell was survived by his daughter and only child Delores Davis, grandson Charles P. Taylor Jr., goddaughter Cynthia Hawkins (Tony) of Brockton, MA, sister Irma Travis of Las Vegas, three brother-in-laws Willie Brabham (Denise), Frank Brabham (Syliva) of New York, and Carl Greggs Sr (Carol) of North Carolina, one sister-in-law Rosa Brabham of Virginia, along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Azell is proceeded in death by his wife of 70 years Agnes, along with his siblings George Davis Sr., Beatrice Ricks, Margert Thurman, Lois Davis, Morris Davis, Samuel Davis, Oliver Davis, and Prince Davis.
