Obituary

Augustine Baker was born August 21, 1932, in Stockton, Alabama to Lillian Porter and Murray Bryant.

After serving in the army, Augustine moved to Boston, Massachusetts.  There he met and married Yvonne B. Scott, his wife for over six decades.  They had four children--Laurie, Kim, Darrin, Cheri, three grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Augustine was known as a gregarious, kind, hospitable, loving, family man with a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed sports, especially baseball, and playing games like Spades and Phase Ten with his family and friends.

He worked at the post office for thirty-three years, retiring as a supervisor. Additionally, he drove a school bus for Dimock Daycare, then worked at his son-in-law's firm with his daughter, Laurie, and wife, Yvonne.

He was full of love! To "Dad" everyone, who crossed the threshold of 93 Winthrop Street, was "family" and was treated as such. The children said, "Daddy always loved a full house!"

Augustine dedicated his life to his heavenly father, Jehovah, and was baptized July 22, 2000. "Brother Baker" was a dedicated, self-sacrificing ministerial servant in his congregation for many years. He enjoyed and had an active share in teaching people about God's kingdom and auxiliary pioneering with Yvonne at his side. In later years, he worked with the RBC in the security department, a very special time for Augustine, where he met and associated with his brothers and sisters from all over New England.

We all have and will cherish special memories of Augustine, who easily found the good in others, and kindly reminded us of our responsibility to do the same!

Augustine Baker is preceded in death by his firstborn, Laurie Baker-Diaz, brother, Sherman Baker, Sr., and niece, Carolyn Baker.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Yvonne, son-in-law, John Lee Diaz, Esq., daughter, Kim Walker (husband, James), son, Darrin Baker (wife, Tracy), daughter, Cheri Baker-Thompson (husband, George), grandchildren--Tyler, Jahnai, Courtney, great grandchildren--Rio, Paul, Nisan, Eiji, cousins, Harold Branch, Debbie and Delmus Whitehead, brothers-in-law, Harry Scott, Sr., Theodore Roberson (wife, Mary), nephews—Dr. Sherman, Baker, David Baker, Sr., Harry Scott, Jr., Eric Scott, Brian Scott, Jason Scott, and niece, Danielle Scott, and a host of family and friends.
