Ann Elizabeth Johnson went home suddenly to be with the Lord on Friday, May 17th, 2024. She passed away in Savannah, GA, with her loving husband, Calvin Johnson, by her side. Ann was born in Siparia, a small southwestern town in Trinidad and Tobago, on February 24th, 1961. She lived there with her mother, Eulyn Rampersad; her father, Andrew Irving Joseph; and her six siblings, with whom she immigrated to Boston, MA, in 1972.

Ann graduated from Boston Technical High School in 1979, and later earned her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from Roxbury Community College. She was previously married to William Junior, and from this union her three children Synara, Monique and William were born. Twenty-four Cheever Street, where she raised her children, was considered the "fun house" because all of the neighborhood kids would go there to hang out and eat what she had cooking.

Ann was a caring person who loved to laugh, lend a sincere ear, and surround herself with people, building community. She would host arguably the best holiday parties where she'd cook a big feast and invite not just family and friends but neighbors and sometimes even people nobody else knew. Ann would often call you and say "Let me tell you a joke". While the joke usually wasn't funny or you didn't quite get the punchline, her laugh was so infectious you'd find yourself cackling along with her anyway. She always knew how to brighten your day or wake you up with a dose of reality that pulled you right out of your pity party. She made life-long connections with friends working at the United States Post Office for 25 years, where she met the love of her life, Calvin Johnson, to whom she was married for 20 years.

They built a life together in Savannah, which she affectionately called "SLOW-vannah." There, she joined a local community group, where she formed deep bonds over conversations about life, arts and crafts, and puzzles. Ann left an incomplete one-thousand-piece puzzle on her table at home in Savannah the night before she passed. That incomplete puzzle symbolizes the simple joys that she found living life and the life that she still planned to live. We will honor her legacy if we live our lives to the fullest.

She is survived by her husband, Calvin Johnson; children, Synara Junior, Monique Junior, Calvin Johnson Jr. William Junior (Charisse Junior); grandchildren, Zoey Junior, Zorah Junior, Sharon Johnson, Mazhou Johnson, London Newsome; siblings, John Joseph (Michelle Joseph), Catherine Palmer (Clayton Palmer), Charles Joseph, Paul Joseph (Maria Joseph), Martin Joseph (Dawn Joseph), Margaret Joseph. She was preceded by her parents, Andrew and Eulyn Joseph.
