Amy Marie Cohen was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend who blessed our lives with love and strength. Her warmth and kindness touched everyone she met. After a year-long battle with cancer, Amy peacefully departed this life on October 24, 2024, at the age of 56, leaving a legacy of community, advocacy and integrity.
Raised in the city of Boston, Massachusetts, Amy was the youngest daughter of the late Columbus Sr. and Oretta Cohen, and youngest sister to her siblings Linda Mason, Columbus Jr., Elliot Cohen and his wife Josette Cohen, Cynthia Cohen and Robert Cohen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ondra Cohen. To cherish her memories., Amy leaves her Children, Mike'la Cohen, Mekhi and Kyla Cohen-Lesley; her grandchildren, Honest and Loyalty Smith. and her loving Partner Micheal Lesley. At an early age, Amy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord & Savior. Amy LOVED cooking for her family, friends & community. Her specialty was Mac & Cheese. She shared her love through her sense of humor.
Amy graduated with an associate's degree in liberal arts from Roxbury Community College in 2021. She dedicated her career to giving back' Amy advocated and supported children in low-income communities. Her unwavering commitment to these children was a testament to her compassion and belief in a brighter future for them all. Amy initiated after-school programs to help kids with their studies, collaborated on community events for families and offered health and nutritional resources. She worked closely with other organizations to secure funding for these programs and events. Her efforts not only improved the lives of many children but also inspired others in the community to get involved and make a difference. Regardless of anyone's circumstance Amy always saw the potential in everyone and encouraged them to see the potential in themselves. Her impactful guidance and dedication pushed people to believe their dreams were obtainable.
In addition to her family, Amy leaves behind a community of friends and colleagues whose lives she touched with her radiant spirit and her drive for change.
Amy's memory will forever be cherished by her children, grandchildren, siblings, a host of family and all who knew her. Although she may no longer walk among us, her laughter, love, and legacy will continue to inspire and uplift us.
As we bid farewell to Amy, let us take comfort in knowing that her spirit will live on in the memories we hold dear to our hearts. Rest in Eternal Peace Amy!
