Today, we gather to honor the life and legacy of Alberte Marie Volel, who graced us with her presence for 86 beautiful years. Born on April 4,1939 in Jacmel, Haiti.

Alberte was a remarkable woman whose spirit touched the lives of all who knew her Alberte affectionally known to many as "Mya", " BettyBop", and "Babbett".   Born to Jean Andre Volel and Adline Alexandra Volel of Jacmel. She was a gift from God in many ways, Mya was the third eldest of nine siblings, a role she embraced with pride and devotion.

She is lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters: Paul Andre Volel, Marie Guerda Volel, Raymond Volel, Claudette Michelle Volel, Marie Lourdes Josee Volel, Josceline Volel, Jean Robert Volel, and Marie Andre Genevieve Volel, with whom she shared an exceptional close bond.

Mya was a loving mother to 4 beautiful children John, Michelle, Barbra and Jacques, who were her pride and joy. Her devotion to family was evident in everything she did, as she nurtured and supported them with unwavering love. She had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, often bringing joy through her thoughtful gestures and infectious laughter.

Mya also shared a union of marriage with Jean Claude Labissiere for many of years. At the age of 37 years old Mya migrated to the United States of America with strong will and determination to establish herself and her children.  Upon arriving in America Mya work ethic would be put to test as she began to shape her career impact with a positive impact on the communities of Ocean Avenue and Marlboro Road in Brooklyn, New York, where she was known as a caregiver, nurse, seamstress, protector, and a mother to all.

To know Mya was to know kindness without limits and the unconditional love that she spread to everyone's heart. She was the type of woman who would give freely from within and assuring that those that she encountered was taken care of. If you ever encountered Mya, you knew that she was always going to feed you or give you a place to lay your head. Her home was a refuge, and her table was always open, and her heart was always full of joy.

Mya also attended college in Haiti and possessed a natural brilliance with numbers. She was gifted with many different talents and skillset opening many doors and opportunities for her to further her craft and passion for God's people. Mya never let anything or anyone get in the way of her relationship with God and having that special time to seek his face for answers and guidance.

Being a spirited gamer Mya would set the tone for the neighborhood children to have the opportunity to battle her on a Friday night hoping to beat her. Her life was testament to service of commitment, compassion and community which all felt her embrace.

Labissiere, Michelle Labissiere, Barbara Martine Labissiere (Deceased) Jacques Phil wife (Patrice Volel) grandchildren: Steven Kimanga, Bryan Agustine, Giovanni Lorquet, Briana Augustine, Brittany Augustine, Kamiyah Volel, Jacques Nicholas Volel, and Rise Lorquet and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
