Tillman James Coy, Jr. was born on January 15, 1960 to his father, Tillman James Coy, Sr. and late mother Annie “Willie Mae” Coy. On January 15, 2020, Tillman transitioned; it was his 60th birthday.
Born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts, "Till" aka "Junie", as he was called by family and close friends, graduated from Boston Technical High School and went on to attend Howard University where he studied Architecture and was a proud member of the University’s marching band. In 1982, Till joined the Boston Fire Department. He spent most of his career, in service, as a part of Engine 48, Ladder 28 in Hyde Park. He later moved on to become a Fire Prevention Inspector and was a proud member of the Boston Society of Vulcans.
Till was an avid Boston sports fan, a golfer, fantasy football league member, and bowler. A lover of soul, jazz, and funk music; he was a huge fan of Parliament-Funkadelic. He rediscovered his passion for dancing when he joined The Original Steppers of Boston/Stepping is Lifestyle, where he served as an instructor and a member of the Board of Directors.
Till was preceded by his mother, Annie “Willie Mae” Coy, older brother Albert Johnson, Brother-in-Law Dana Cave and niece Dayna Cave.
He is survived by his wife Lynda Coy, children Devin, Autumn, and Jovan, grandchildren, Olivia, Amina, and Miles. father Tillman James Coy, Sr., sisters Janice Cave and Brenda Coy, nieces Dominique and Janelle and a host of family members and close friends.
Tillman “Till” aka “Junie” Coy, Jr. left a lasting impression on everyone he came in contact with; he was known as a smooth, cool, gentle giant. His support, light, and love knew no boundaries. He will forever be missed.
