Preston McNeil Obituary

Preston McNeil, (Big Mac was the name friends and family would call him) was born on August 26, 1940 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  He attended school in Philadelphia.  He served in the Armed Forces with the U.S. Army from 1962 to 1964.  Preston worked at a window cleaning business with his father.  He also did some construction work for a few years before joining the Boston Fire Department, where he worked for over 20 years.  He was a member of the VFW Post in Mattapan, MA.

Although our hearts are saddened at the loss of our beloved father, son, brother, friend and husband, Preston McNeil.  We take comfort in knowing that he is resting safely in the arms of the almighty.  He was loved by many and will be remembered for his amusing sense of humor, passion for life, contagious smile and love for God and family.  He will truly be missed by friends and family for his jokester personality.  He would walk into any room and brighten it up.  If you knew him you would never forget him.  Rest on Preston, earth’s loss and heaven’s gain.

Preston has been battling a prolonged illness, but Preston’s transition to glory was sudden yet peaceful.  Although his parents and siblings have all passed away, he leaves to cherish his memory, three children by his first wife Bernese McNeil:  Michelle Crockett, Jackie McNeil and Preston DeShone McNeil.  Preston later married Emily Franklin-McNeil and they had a son Darren Franklin-McNeil.  He also had seven stepchildren, Linda Howard, Kevin Franklin (deceased), Brian Franklin (deceased), Renee Franklin-Byers, Stacey Franklin, Troy Franklin and Regina Franklin, grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
