Paul McKenzie was born to the late Paul McKenzie Sr and Bessie (Slaughter)McKenzie on July 24, 1948 in Sylacauga, Alabama where he attended East Highland Elementary and high school.
Paul moved to Boston, Massachusetts with his family at the age of 13, and later attended Boston Trade School. He worked for the MBTA, in the City of Boston, his last career was as a motivation speaker for four years. Paul married his loving wife Deborah Mason- McKenzie on July 7, 2001.
Paul loved playing dominos with the group on Tuesday and Thursday, playing for nickels and dimes, dancing at the club. He danced at the Elma Lewis Dance company in Boston for 15 years. He loved Fashion and was a sharp “ G.Q.” dresser. He enjoyed people and loved making them laugh. He had this distinct laugh that made you laugh back with him and say “Really?” His favorite words were “Babygirl” and “Fast Mama”. His eye would light up a from visits from his grandchildren, who called him “G-Pa”.
Paul is proceeded in death by his parents Bessie Slaughter and Paul McKenzie. His siblings Jimmie-Lee McKenzie, Mary Lou McKenzie, James Slaughter and Thomas Earl Slaughter. He is also proceeded by three aunts and two uncles.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Deborah Mason-Mckenzie of Dorchester; children Paul McKenzie, III of Boston, Emeraude J. (Brenia) Mason, Sgt. 1st Class, US Army Platoon Sergeant of California and Argustaine Mason, of Boston; seven grandchildren: Jaeli, Auri, Nakaiya, Jaevonne, Shantelle, Brianna and Jasmeen. His siblings Clifford Slaughter, Yvonne (Daniel) Slaughter-McCarthy, Deborah Slaughter, Bessie Mae (Norman Smith ) Slaughter and Patricia Slaughter all of Boston. He leaves aunts and uncles, Florine and Walter Maia of Boston and L.C. Turner and Ed Turner of Georgia. He is survived by a dear friend Clifford Carr, nieces, great-nieces, nephews, and great-nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
