Media Medina passed away peacefully in Washington, DC on December 8, 2019 with her daughter and granddaughters by her side.
Media was born in 1917 in Trinidad, West Indies to the late Julia and Charles Campbell. She was the first of five children, all of whom have preceded her in death.
She married Benjamin Medina in February of 1942 and their marriage was blessed with two daughters, Yvette and Revelie. Benjamin passed away in 1998.
Media migrated to the United States, Washington, DC in April of 1968 and later moved to Boston to be close to her family. In Boston, she worked at Children’s Hospital for 23 years, and took many courses in her free time – Nurses Aide and Spanish. She was always interested in learning something new and placed a strong emphasis on education. She loved to travel and visited her daughter and her family when they lived in Nigeria and Spain. She also cruised to several Caribbean Islands and enjoyed vacations with her family in Kiawah, South Carolina and Tobago.
Media is survived by her two daughters, Yvette Cassar and Revelie Sams. She is also survived by her son-in-law, Duane Sams, her grandchildren – Wayne Martinez, Marissa and Kyla Sams, Karen Kihanya and Lauren, Kwamie and Kerwin Cassar; 8 great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to St. Cyprians Episcopal Church – Stained Glass Window Fund.
