Gloria Jenkins, the daughter of Peggy Jenkins and Ben Mazyck, was born in Eutawville, South Carolina on October 14, 1948. Gloria attended Eutawville public schools and completed her education at Roberts Sr High School. Gloria moved to Boston, Massachusetts in 1966 to join her oldest sister Nancy Jenkins. Her first initial job was working retail at Jordan Marsh department stores. After a few years working retail and other miscellaneous jobs, Gloria found her dream job working for State Street Bank in the Deposit Operations, Lock Box Department as a Data Entry Processor. Subsequently, Gloria was recognized as a leader in her department. Because of her intelligence and hard work, Gloria was promoted to a management position in 1981. She supervised this department for over 20 years. Gloria would cap off a stellar 30-year career at State Street Bank, and retired as an Operations Officer at the bank in 2003.
Although she was a successful businesswoman; Gloria was also extremely dedicated to her family. She had an unbelievable giving heart and was always there to be the safety net while encouraging and supporting her family. Gloria was a strong and honorable woman who led a simple life. She enjoyed traveling in her early years, reading and attending various family events. Gloria will be sorely missed. She is survived by her two sons Kevin (Maryellen) and Eric Jenkins (Yvette); sisters Nancy and Nellie Jenkins; brothers Paul Milton (Ruth), Robert and Charles (Rosemary) Jenkins; late brother Michael Jenkins; grandchildren Kurt Meehan, Keon, Joshua, Noah and Elijah Jenkins; and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and family friends.
