Carol Bernier

Born the 4th child of the late Antonio and Adrienne Bernier, Carol Bernier was born in Port-Au-Prince Haiti in May of 1959.  She emigrated to Boston in 1971 and called it home since.  She married “Maxo” Yionel Torres and had their first son, Yionel Torres (Junior).  Through the years, bond between mother & son grew strong and became an even greater blessing as she welcomed daughters Nakisha Dourdan, Tasha Dourdan and second son, Antonio Dourdan with Edwin Dourdan.

 In September, 2013 she suffered a catastrophic stroke that began a long battle of health issues but family and close friends were always there to celebrate holidays and her birthday, wherever she was.  Junior was instrumental in ensuring that she was well  cared for and often played her favorite music to keep her going.  Her sisters and brothers also visited regularly to soothe, stimulate and share stories with her consistently.  Through the years, her presence was missed but family was by her side to ensure she was very much a part of the festivities.  She even joined the family for Thanksgiving in 2018 at her longtime home in Mattapan.  Her sweet and loving nature resonated with those she came in contact with.  She loved to cook for her family and friends and always welcomed the opportunity to be with loved ones.  God called Carol home on Wednesday, December 19th at 11:30 am surrounded by family.

Carol is survived by her children (Yionel Torres, Nakisha Dourdan, Tasha Dourdan & Antonio Dourdan), granddaughters (Ivy B Gomes & Zola U Francis), sisters (Marie-Ange Bernier, Magalie Bernier & Marie Francis) and brothers (Anthony Bernier & Patrick Bernier) and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends & family.
