Joshua David Smith was born on March 4, 1992 in the Bronx, New York.
He was the only child of Dr. Althea M Smith.
He graduated from Milton High School in 2010.
He was a union carpenter employed at the Sunrise Erector Inc. in Canton, MA, where he was a valued employee.
He had an outgoing personality and loving spirit. Joshua attended middle school in Brattleboro VT. There he exceled at sports, voted the most athletic in his final year. He played drums in the marching band and played the lead French horn in the orchestra.  He was a competitive swimmer, winning numerous ribbons.

Joshua was a lover of music and had been writing lyrics for most of his life. He was a rapper and involved in all aspects of music production. He has two videos on you tube and a song on Apple tunes. He was excited because he was in the process of releasing a new music album under the name of “Pyrex Jordan”.

Although he had a zest for life, on July 5th he transitioned into the loving arms of God.

Josh had a knack of being in the right place at the right time. Twice, when he was young, children at the town’s swimming pool came up to his mother and told her he had jump into the pool and saved his life. In high school he won an award for giving the Heimlich to his teacher as she was chocking. Finally, last fall he called his mother at 2:00 am because there was a little downs syndrome baby sleep walking outside, in the middle of the street. She was clearly afraid and confused. As Althea ran out to join him, he stood there saying to the baby “its okay baby” “You’re okay”.  Josh stood there between, Hazel, the pond, and the coyotes.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents David and Mary Smith.

He leaves to mourn his mother, Dr. Althea M Smith and her partner Melissa Nussbaum Freeman. His only child, Riley Simone Washington, who was born on March 10, 2021, whom he shared with Demetria Washington. Riley was the love of his life! He also leaves two loving aunts Shawn and Laura Smith and a host of cousins and numerous friends.

Please let his life be a Blessing to us all.
