John is survived by Patricia Washington his life partner and best-friend, and the mother of his two children (Cora Lee James): Fitzgerald (Gerald) James and Phyllis (James) Jones of Virginia Beach, and his love never spread thin, he was a father to Melissa Washington Harris (daughter of Patricia Washington) and her husband Fred Harris of Plainfield NJ. He is survived by 6 siblings, brothers: Granville (Billy) James, Robert (Bobby) James and Larry James of Virginia Beach, VA, and (3) Sisters: Audrey James, JoEllen (James) Riggens, and Joyce Anne James of Virginia Beach, VA, sister-in-laws Poochie James, Deloris James of Virginia Beach, VA. He had a great relationship with sister-in-law Claradine Moore-Cowell, of Boston, MA and was instrumental in helping to her raise his Boston nieces and nephews: Peggy James, Angela James, Anthony James, Roderick James and garnered a special relationship with his niece Babanina James of Westwood MA. He is also survived by Frazelle Roberts who he respectfully referred to as Ma (mother of Patricia Washington), his sister in-law Jean Magee (sister of Patricia Washington) and her husband Thomas Magee of Boston MA and brother-in-law, James Roberts (brother of Patricia Washington) and his wife Lerna Roberts. He is survived by 8 grand-children (Temeka James, Charles Jones, William Jones, Timothy Jones, of Virginia Beach, VA and Michael James of Chesapeake, VA ; Kyana Harris, Keon Harris and Kameron Harris, of (Plainfield, New Jersey) and (17) Great-Grandchildren: Teshona James, Xyisha James, Autum James, Jazmine Jones, Marvalis Jones, King Jones, Myarai Jones, Jayden Jones, Dawavies Jones, Trinity Jones, Charles III Jones, Nylia Jones, Kyleah Jones, Guayman Jones, Clinton Jones, Kaywann Jones, Ja-wuan Jones and (3) grand-daughter in laws: Avonlea Jones, Britney Jones, and Christie Jones and (1) Great, Great-granddaughter Miracle James of Virginia Beach, VA. John is also survived by a host of additional family members and friends, including life-long friend, Earnest (Sunny) Harris of Virginia Beach, VA and Julissa Guity of Brockton, MA who viewed him as a father-figure and was an unconditional care-giver to him.
