Geneva Pannell was born October 26, 1916 in Avalon, Virginia. Born to Helen and Samuel Adams, Geneva was raised in a family with 3 sets of twins and she was the 5th child out of 9 children, all boys except herself.
The family moved from Heathsville, Virginia to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania when Geneva was 5 years old. Geneva left Pittsburgh at 18 years old and relocated to Rye, New York where she worked for a prominent lawyer's family caring for their child, Lee Brookfield. Lee remains very close to the family.
While working for the Brookfield's, Geneva met William L. Pannell at a relatives wedding. William and Geneva were married in Port Chester, New York in 1954 and shortly after was blessed with the birth of their only daughter, Sheila. In 1956, the family moved to Boston, Massachusetts, and bought a house in Dorchester where they remained.
Once in Boston, Geneva worked for another family in Needham, Massachusetts where she helped to care for 6 children. The Fiumara family also remains very close to the family. Geneva became a cook at the Judge Baker Guidance Center and the Mansville School. Geneva was a member of Twelfth Baptist Church and a member of the Boston Ebony Sisters a social club. She loved to travel and went to several places including Canada, Bahamas, California, Las Vegas, Florida and Atlantic City as well as many other places.
After being blessed with 100 years, God called her home on Easter, Resurrection Sunday, April 16 at 4:50 PM.
Geneva is survived by her two baby brothers Harold Adams and Stan Adams; her beloved daughter Sheila Baskin; two grandchildren, Takisha Baskin and Kiana Pierre-Louis; 3 great-grandchildren Shayne Spencer Williams, Bèa Pierre-Louis and Romelo Pierre-Louis and a host of other relatives and friends
