Butler Blakeney Obituary

Butler Blakeney of Boston passed away on Monday, April 7th at his South End residence. He was 80 years old. Originally from Charlotte, NC, Butler came to Boston in 1955 after having graduated as an engineer from Tennessee State University. He retired from the MBTA after a successful career. He and his wife, Ivy, also realized their passion for decorating and opened Blakeney's Interiors over 25 years ago. Butler embraced the access of educational institutions here in the metropolitan area and found time to continue studies at MIT and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Butler had strong ties to the Liberian community here in Boston and loved them as family. He is survived by a sister, Shirley Blakeney, of Charlotte, NC
